Shakedown at Donington in the Z4M

 Great sunny Day in March!
Got Black flagged for noise (98dB Drive by was at 99.5dB), luckily I had two decibel devils I could put on, and was ok for the rest of the day!

New LSD diff worked perfectly and the extra rear camber eliminated the mid corner oversteer.

New LSD and Tie Bars

Recent upgrades for 2019 include a new race Quaife Limited Slip Differential to replace the road version. Lighter in weight and stronger for the track it had to be done:

Also while we had the back end apart we added some Hard Race rear tie bars so we could get some more rear camber!
Thanks to race engineer Carl Lloyd for helping with the fitting..

Another Win @ Pembrey

We had a good weekend at Pembrey in Wales for the double header.

Round 5 was a wet one but thanks to some different rear tyres we were able for the first time to keep up with the 4W Drive cars in the wet Finishing 2nd by 0.017s - Close!

Round 6 was dry which suited our car much better so we were able to walk away with the win!

Pirelli Tyre Test

Following a discussion with the Pirelli tyre technicians at Time Attack, they have recommended a different profile tyre to test on the Z4M for track use. Previously on the rear we had the OEM aspect ratio of 40 i.e 265/40 R18, the new one is 265/35 R18 both a Pirelli Trofeo R.

Before they felt a bit loose until they got to temperature then soon were over pressured as we had to run them a bit harder to compensate for the movement. Wow what a difference, they felt stable from the start and then came nicely to pressure and stayed consistent for several fast laps. When I say consistent I mean we did three fast laps all within 0.035s.

A big thanks to Pirelli for helping us out with the test..

Another Podium for the Z4M

Our last round was at Oulton Park where we managed to finish in P2!

Despite being my home track Ross in the 450Bhp M2 managed to pip us into 1st place. Not bad considering we only have 348Bhp.  However we were able to beat the M2 in qualifying (half Points) as it was wet!

Next rounds of Time Attack are:

Rounds 5 & 6: Saturday/Sunday 18th/19th August, Pembrey
